Micro-fine Cement

Micro-fine cement is Portland cement based cements composed of ultrafine particles and are designed for injection into loose soils, rock and concrete. Because of micro-fine cement’s small particle size (the fineness largest grain size passing D95 is < 16.0 µm and Blaine value> 600 m2/kg.), it penetrates very well into tight joints, fissures and pore spaces to provide a water-tight grouted rock or soil mass. It can be used as grouting materials after adding water reducing agent (GC1).

1.4 Packaging

Micro-fine cement is supplied in 25 kg plastic bags for ease of handling and to maximize

storage life.

2 Performance Characteristics

High-pressure piston pumps are normally used to pump the suspension into the rock. The

grout should be injected within6HOURS after mixing to ensure that it keeps penetrating into

the fissures.

3 Application procedure

3.1 Dosage

Micro-fine cement is generally dosed at 1.5 – 2.0 liters other micro-fine admixture per 100 kg of cement. Other dosages

may be recommended in special cases according to specific job requirements. Consult your

local UGC representative for advice.

3.2 Mixing

Mix at least for 5 minutes with colloidal mixer at 1500rpm.

· Transfer to agitator.

It is very important to use an efficient mixer. Colloidal mixers are the best, but high-speed

paddle mixers are acceptable.

Minimum rpm for colloidal mixers: 1500 rpm.

Minimum rpm for paddle mixers: 400 rpm.

NB: Do not over mix. Mixing longer than recommended may cause the grout temperature to

increase and set in the pump and hoses.

3.3 Pot life

The mix shall be kept under constant agitation prior to injection.

4 Reference

4.1 Storage 

Micro-fine cement has a shelf life of 6 months when stored in original closed bags in ventilated

dry areas.

4.2 Safety precautions

Any physical contact (e.g. skin or eyes) made with micro-fine cement should be avoided, as it may cause irritation or burns. If such contact occurs, the affected area should be washed with plenty of clean water. In case of eye contact, seek immediate medical advice.
